Are you noticing local property prices softening due to inflation?

I've been keeping an eye on the housing market in my area for the last few months, and it feels like things are finally starting to cool down. With inflation hitting our daily expenses so hard, I'm curious if other homeowners are seeing potential buyers back out or if sellers are finally dropping their asking prices. It seems like the cost of borrowing has made people much more cautious about taking on a mortgage right now. Has anyone here had experience listing or buying a home lately? I'm trying to figure out if this is just a temporary dip or if we are heading toward a broader correction in local real estate values.

Definitely noticing it here in the suburbs. Homes that would have sold in a weekend a year ago are now sitting for weeks with price cuts.

I agree with you. I'm seeing the same trend in my neighborhood, though I think it's mostly due to the interest rates rather than just inflation.

It's definitely cooling down. I've seen at least five 'price reduced' signs on my street alone this month.

Same here. People aren't bidding way over asking price anymore because the mortgage payments are just too high at these rates.

I listed my house three weeks ago and have had zero offers. It's a tough market for sellers right now for sure.

Have you considered lowering the price slightly? I think buyers are waiting for a bargain given the current economic climate.

Actually, in my city, prices are still holding steady. It seems like inventory is so low that even with high rates, there's no downward pressure yet.

That's an interesting point. I think it really depends on your specific region and the local job market.

I don't think this is just a temporary dip. I think we're seeing the start of a major correction after years of irrational growth.

I hope you're right. As a first-time buyer, I've been priced out for so long that I'm actually happy to see things softening.

Don't get your hopes up too high. Sellers still have a lot of equity and aren't in a rush to sell for a loss unless they absolutely have to.

Just bought a place last month. I managed to get the seller to cover closing costs, which would have been impossible a year ago.

That's a great win! It really shows the power shift moving back toward the buyers in this current environment.
